150 Young PhotographerThe digital camera has revolutionised the photographic world with instant results and the end of the concept that the camera never lies. As a talent, and an art form, RIBI celebrates the photographic skills of thousands of young people with a sequence of competitions that give them the chance to demonstrate and display just what they can produce.

This competition aims to encourage young people to: 

  • experiment with photography 
  • use digital or traditional methods of photography 
  • show interpretation of their chosen topic 
  • express their ideas through the medium of photography

2014/15 Competition

This competition is open to students, in full time education, in one of three age groups on 31 August 2014:

  • Junior 7 to 10 years old 
  • Intermediate 11 to 13 years old 
  • Senior 14 to 17 years old 

With the age qualifying date of 31st August 2014, it should be noted that some junior entrants may be 11, intermediate entrants may be 14 and some senior entrants may be 18 at the time of some or all the stage competitions i.e. a competitor may be 17 on 31st August but turns 18 on 1st September is allowed to enter.Competitors must include their date of birth on the application form.

Students must enter the competition, organised by the local Rotary Club, through their school, college or organisation.

Entrants are required to produce a portfolio of three photographs based upon the theme, ‘Light up the Community’ in colour, or black and white, on photographic paper. Prints to be submitted separately. Each print, including any mount should be no larger than A4 size. It will be up to the individual entrants to show imagination in the interpretation of the theme and he/she must provide, in no more than 50 words, details of the inspiration for their photographs.

Club Rounds will be held in February and March 2015. Only the winning entries in each age group will go through to the District round and must be sent to the District Coordinator no later than 20th March 2015

District Round: Judging took place on 31st March. The Judges included Rtn. Sharron Trueman from Royal Leamington Spa Rotary Club and Rtn. Stewart Band from Stratford Rotary Club

Winning Entries:

Senior: Reece Hallatt entered by the Rotary Club of Bewdley

Intermediate: Zoe Wilkinson entered by the Rotary Club of Knowle and Dorridge

Juniors: Emma Tilley entered by the Rotary Club of Rugby Saturday Breakfast

The winners from each age category will to go forward to the National Final.

National Final will be judged in May.

Note: For the District round there is an entry fee, payable by the Club, of £5 per age group entered.
