No Brexit woes for Kinver Santa

By John Pittwood - Posted on 29 December 2016

Brexit certainly has not affected the generosity of the people of Kinver, Enville, Wollaston, Wall Heath and Kingswinford. On the run up to Christmas they gave more than £7,200 to Kinver Rotary Club’s Christmas sleigh, smashing all previous totals.

Not only did the nine nights of house to house collections, donations from schools and support from customers in the village’s pubs and restaurants take the total through the £7,000 barrier, it also reflected a 10% increase on last year’s figure and 7% more than the previous record of 2014.

Club president Ian Maddock has thanked everybody across the area who put so much cash in the collecting tins and added: “Rotarians put a lot of time and effort into the sleigh but the rewards they get from the looks of pleasure they get from the children meeting Santa outside their homes, in their schools and outside their local supermarkets more than make up for the hard work of members.  The superb financial result is the icing on the cake.”

All the cash, after deduction of expenses, will be distributed among local charities in the New Year.
